As for dividend cuts... It's always a worry regardless of age. The other day, I did the math on the cuts I have seen in the last year or two with oil dropping lower (most my div stocks are energy).
I had 18 stocks cut their div's in 2015-2016 and when KMI ate up two of my great dividend paying stocks, Then dropped their div significantly - I lost a good amount of yearly income in that process as well. It all amounts to a shocking 35,000 dollar difference in annual income.
That's pretty big on just dividend cuts oh...and lets not forget the two suspensions. No divs at all there.
It's not all bad. I did have 12 stocks raise their divs since I bought them, but that move is not nearly as impressive as the ones that cut.
I love been stuck in a unloved sector. I look forward to the day oil and gas rebounds, which it will. Yawn!!!
