Another possible explanation is that Seymour has lost his marbles, and simple tasks like understanding trademarks, having a consistent story from one day to the next, being able to write up a short summary as a "CEO Letter" in less than six months, and the like, are completely beyond his grasp.

It may be that Seymour started NNVC thirteen years ago as a capable con man knowing exactly what he was doing, but has slowly morphed into an honest-but-batshit CEO afflicted with morbid geriatric torpor.
