Donald Trump today certified Iran is complying with the deal to end its nuclear program ending sanctions on Iran.
But Trump also imposed individual sanctions on 18 individuals and groups in Iran which are working on non-nuclear weapons programs in Iran or supporting terrorist groups outside Iran.
The new individual sanctions on citizens of Iran are identical to the current American sanctions against Vladimir Putin and 268 of his close Russian business associates.
Republicans eyeing a run for the Presidency are expected to reach out to these Iranian sanction subjects seeking Iranian government financial and logistical help in winning the 2020 election.
Ted Cruz told reporters, "The Iranian government was instrumental in Ronald Reagan's victory over Jimmy Carter, so any serious candidate would be remiss is not scheduling coordination meetings with the Iranian government."
"There's much to be gained from a better relationship with Iran which will help provide jobs in America, something Donald Trump the great negotiator has failed to do," Cruz added.
