1) the ticker stays alive until the SEC kicks it down to the "grey sheets". And even on the Grey Sheets the ticker stays alive even if there are no operations.
2) No one is buying. Note holders typically short their position and then cover the short with converted shares. The only ones buying are a few people who "believe'. Good luck with that one. Their short position is NOT listed as it is done "off the record".
