AR-15 Break-In Procedure

New Barrel Break-In Procedure

Before firing
make sure your firearm is properly lubricated
and Clean the barrel well.
1. Clean the barrel well.
· Make sure the patches come out clean and white.
· Use the cleaner of your choice (do not use ammonia-based cleaners).
· Make sure you have the barrel cleaned and any solvents removed or neutralized in the bore.
· Apply the lubricant-bore treatment (CLP Works here).
· Dry the bore with a clean dry patch.
· U.S. made new brass cased ammunition only.

2. Perform the following for a total of 2 rounds fired.
· Load 1 round in the magazine
· Fire 1 round Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool
· Load 1 round in the magazine
· Fire 1 round Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool

3. Change from firing ONE round to TWO.
· Load 2 rounds in the magazine
· Fire 2 rounds Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool
· After completing this step you will have fired a total of 4 rounds

4. Change from firing TWO rounds to THREE.
· Load 3 rounds in the magazine
· Fire 3 rounds Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool
· Load 3 rounds in the magazine
· Fire 3 rounds Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool
· After completing this step you will have fired a total of 10 rounds

5. You will have now fired 10 rounds total and cleaned and oiled your barrel 6 times.

6. Change from firing THREE rounds to 10.
· Load 10 rounds in the magazine
· Fire 10 rounds Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool
· Load 10 rounds in the magazine
· Fire 10 rounds Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool
· Load 10 rounds in the magazine
· Fire 10 rounds Clean the barrel Well (Step 1).
o Let the Barrel Cool

7. You will have now fired 40 rounds total and cleaned and oiled your barrel 9 times.
· Your barrel break-in procedure is complete, if you wish to perform an accuratizing process perform step 6 for 3 more times for a total of 100 rounds fired.

8. After firing 100 rounds total clean and treat the bore as in Step 1,

9. Ensure your rifle is properly sighted in then fire for a group.
Your barrel is now broken in. Prior to firing your weapon make sure it is properly lubricated and you have performed step 1 once. If you do choose to accelerate the process this does not void your warranty. Failing to properly lubricate your rifle prior to firing may void your warranty. We do not recommend lapping of the barrel.
Please ensure to properly lubricate your rifle, the bolt carrier group, hammer and trigger springs, charging handle, barrel extension, gas key, and bolt all require lubrication. The military specification calls for a Teflon based lubricant CLP is recommended.

Your rifle is not RF85 treated and must be lubricated just like any machine.
