Hurrah for Modern Dad .. these are comments on the anti Pelosi story linked below

"The overall message of 2017 special elections is that Republicans are in trouble"

This article is WAY off base. It's a moronic narrative contradicted by common sense and a knowledge of elementary arithmetic.

Look, the Democratic Party NARROWLY lost 4 races in DEEP RED, SOLIDLY REPUBLICAN districts. The fact that the Republican Party had to fight tooth and nail and break the bank to hold on to each of them---my lord, they almost lost in South Carolina!---underscores the tenuous hold the GOP has on Congress, not the "declining" fortunes of the Democratic Party.

If the situation was reversed---and the Republican Party came within a hair of winning in 4 districts located in places like NYC, the Bay Area, Seattle and Boston, would this same journalist being saying that "the Republicans are now 'on the ropes' and 'in deep trouble' going forward?

Get real. If you're a SMART Republican you are now privately shaking in your boots despite the phony public bravado. Why wouldn't they be, looking soberly and realistically at the results of these races?

Only a conservative or Trump lover that was in deep denial, or truly delusional---or just a moron---could look at these numbers in THESE 4 districts and conclude that "Happy Days Are Here Again."

It's incredible to see so much Republican denial and so much Democratic self-criticism. Both are deeply misplaced.

Wishful thinking doesn't make it so. And if I were (God Forbid) a GOP partisan, I wouldn't be celebrating the fact that my party had to break the bank and fight like crazy just to hold on to 4 DEEP RED districts. (Would the GOP be down in the dumps if they came within a hair of capturing 4 districts in NYC, Boston, Seattle and San Francisco?)

What Republicans SHOULD be "praying for" is that all investigations of the man in White House end immediately, that the 2018 elections are postponed indefinitely and that people continue to overlook the fact that your "Dear Leader" who lost to Hillary Clinton by 3 million votes is increasingly unhinged and a real and present danger to all of humanity.

Dems, please keep Pelosi. She is truly a (Republican) asset.

LOL! Well, when they made almost every commercial about Pelosi---as if she'd be returning as speaker if Ossoff won---and they barely squeaked by in a DEEP RED district, I think your "love" of Pelosi is due to your obvious brainwashing from too much Fox "News" and other ultra right wing "media" online. You're living in a world of delusion. Get help.

Please, PLEASE keep that senile moron Pelosi as Minority Leader. Please!!!

It won't make a difference. The GOP "won" by the very skin of their teeth after spending a record amount to retain Newt Gingrich's old CD.

You're in denial. If you have to fight tooth and nail to hold on to SOLID RED districts, what do you think is going to happen next year when the 23 incumbent Republicans who won in districts also won by Hillary Clinton go up for re-election?

I think you should resign yourself to saying "Speaker Pelosi" once again. Like the fact that Trump won't finish his term, it's pretty much inevitable at this point.

.. well said Modern Dad, even though you may have drifted into a touch of hopeful hyperbole at the end .. here is the article ..

‘Nancy Pelosi is not where we need to go.’ Why Democrats lost Georgia, a progressive story.
