I suspect you're right and they were told that weeks or months ago. But then they probably put in significant effort to try to get the corporate records they needed, and finally gave up. They should have given up on it long ago in my opinion but for whatever reason they really wanted the ticker change.

Let's see if they come out hard with the marketing in Q3.
