Anyone looking for a great deal on a new computer, and doesn't mind swapping some parts around? Thanks to the cryptocurrency mining craze, used Radeon GPU's are selling for a premium. Cyberpower is running a great deal, $500 off, and a bunch of add-ons, either free or nearly so. The key here is to get two Radeon R 470's, which can be sold for up to $650 on craiglist or ebay, minus the fees...Some people think the premium price that card and similar Radeon's (Not GeForce) are bring will last for while..hopefully long enough. I'm going to wait till morning, when I can call and ask a couple questions.

Apparently, I'll have to pay sales tax, which is 10% in Seattle now, but still will end up with close to $1100 worth of gear, even after selling the 2 GPU's. I could add one of mine or get a good used card for 150-200 and sell the whole shebang for $1000m netting me maybe $250-350....(woulda looked a lot better without the danged sales tax...)

The deal would be better, but I already have a great 1 year old PC which I built... and a 7 year old build which I'm optimizing.

https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Early-July-4th-Special-II.

Kitt, the PC which I built cost about $2600, but that included the latest m.2 NVMe SSD, which mounts on the MB and is 5 times faster than regular SSD's. And a 32" Benq 4K monitor which I got used on Amazon. Next to it is a years old HP IPS display, 2560x1600, which I just found for $100. They're both great, but I can't match the hues, so they look a bit funny if the same image or a white background is up. I have four more hard drives, and it's powered with the capable l7 6700K, and has 32 gb of fast memory. Talk about multi-tasking!

If I swing the above deal, I could buy a used GTX 1080 GPU when the used market for them cools a bit, and put my 4gb GTX 970 in the 7 yr old computer. That one is the first generation quad core i7... Well, speaking of deals, I read about overclockers who were replacing their 4 core chips with older server Xeon's. So I scored a X5670 for $34 on ebay ($1400 when new 7 years ago) and have it overclocked from 2.9 to 3.8 Experienced overclockers get 4.2 out of the CPU, which is 6 core, 12 thread, by the way. I'm looking to replace my MB with a later version that added SATA III, but they're hard to find for under $100...Watching one now, and it comes with an i7 930 CPU, which would sell on ebay for $30. Just Friday I listed my 920 CPU for $21 plus shipping and it sold within a minute. So, that spiffy Xeon cost me a whopping $14!!

I also doubled my memory to 16 gb for $40 via a sweet craigslist deal..and have my old memory for sale, but no takers yet.
