Wi-Fi in Flight, coming SOON!
Absolutely, OBrien !
Even Oprah told us.
The main project is WiFi-in-Flight, i.e. inventing a new LNB to receive carrier from Satellite, amplify->downconvert->amplify again, filters/limiters/stuff where designer decides in LNB) and that's truly revolutionary. Even the choice of KuBand or XtoKu, is revolutionary, 10.75-11.3, 12.25-12.75GHz amazing.
Nobody, not even Norden Millimeter (or worse yet, NorSat) can do it well, not just electrically but they also don't Hermitcally Laser-Seal and temperature compensate as the LNB on airplane can experience -60*C in flight and +40*C when landing in south India I guess.
And Norden Millimeter can't make it fast enough, it's like knitting - slowly, one by one tuning each LNB to amazing front-end System Noise.Figure, losing sanity.
But not anymore! Now the revolution came. And you know who's brining it to us!!
How lucky are we to get WhyFry-in-Flight soon.
P.S.
Now seriously on my last flight escaping Mold.Tick Country to L.A., I even got Cell signal (4G) at almost full altitude 8-9 Kilometers up in Atmosphere, to this day I wonder how it managed to reach from a tower on earth. Maybe those beam-forming breakthrus for CellTowers being developed by our friends since Last Supper, are finally coming into production. I don't think someone was re-translating 4G within Boeing's cabin. I called mom. Mom told to hang up to avoid risk downing plane ! There was WhyFry802.11ay (60GHz carrier) at peak 20Gbps, and 802.11ac with flight attendant being a hotspot in the 1st Class passengers' cabin... I guess Revolution came too early!
