If one prides themselves on impartiality, all information must be treated equally. Instead, preconceived opinion (bias) causes some hearsay to be treated as fact, yet other hearsay to be treated as nonsense, all depending on which side of the fence one stands.
This is not defending one side of the other, just a statement on the double standard. We are quick to believe what we already think we know or believe.
