it is a common misconception that all the world needs to do is detect the hacks earlier and faster and that will solve the problem.
There is just one teeny tiny little itzy bitzy problem with that argument. The FACT is that the best cyber security experts in the world are agreed, including the experts at MIT, that it is IMPOSSIBLE to prevent mega data breaches using point solution encryption and filters (MIT Technology Review, Jan 2017) no matter how fast they work. According to the NSA there are over 1000 Zero-Day vulnerabilities in the Point Solutiong technologies regardless of how fast they are. And when they tell you that they are making detection faster what they do NOT tell you is that it currently takes 250-300 days for the experts detect most data breaches today, and even if they could reduce that time down to ONE day, imagine how much of your valuable data a hacker can steal in 24 hours.
According to recent articles published on the subject the REAL experts, the INDEPENDENT experts that are advising the software industry, the NSA, governments, and militaries around the world, they are calling for a different approach to cyber security. And they are emphasizing that because the hackers are already using some of the fastest computers in the world, simply increasing the speed a hacke can be detected will not help. The hackers can access the data millions of times faster than the fastest system in the world can detect the intrusion. So I have no idea who wrote your white paper, but it would appear they do not know what they are talking about.
According to the REAL experts, the world does NOT need another smart firewall or another intrusion or threat DETECTION system or even a predictive model. The cyber security of the future will have to PREVENT the intrusion. It will have to actually PROTECT the data directly so that it is NEVER exposed to viruses, malware or other unauthorized access.
Specifically, the cyber security of the future must protect the COMPLETE life cycle of data. That means that the data must be protected without interuption even for a nano-second when it is created, deleted, edited, updated, copied, viewed, emailed, texted, private messaged, transmitted over a network, moved to storage devices or between operating systems, or moved between security environments.
Most Point Solution cyber security methods in the world can protect the data perfectly and successfully block the attack as long as you do not ever actually have to USE the data for any of the above purposes. But, 100% of the Point Solutions must decrypt the data as it moves the data through each of those processes.
