Education funding is so messed up it's hard to even make a comparison. In Kansas we have poor schools getting little funding and rich schools getting more than they need. Several years ago my dad said he knew the school district in my hometown went out and bought tons of computer supplies and promptly threw them away just because they had "use it or lose it and lower funding next year" money.
