I confess to just not understanding. Some swear by level2 but others say the MMs can make things appear different than they are, mistakes are made and then later corrected, and sometimes trades take place that aren't revealed until after the day is over. All of these suggest to me that Level2 can help give an approximation of what is happening and where the stock is going at any time, but even then nothing is guaranteed.
