OT, but interesting

On Aug 21, 2017 the US will be able to witness a total solar eclipse that will span the whole US starting at Salem, OR, passing near St Louis, and exiting near Charleston, SC. It has been 38 years since the last eclipse in the US and it will be 2023 until the next one. The one in Aug will be special because most of the US will see at least 80% of the sun obscured.

The total eclipse band is 70 miles wide the blackout will last for 2 minutes 40 seconds. From the start of the eclipse to the end will take just short of 3 hours.

I have already made reservations and plan to drive some 500 miles to St Clair, MO so that I will be at the center of the total eclipse band. I want to witness the total black out. This is an event I don't want to miss.
