Irish War Cry, 10th in the Kentucky Derby drew post 7 and was installed as the 7-2 morning-line favorite for the 149th Belmont Stakes on Saturday. Irish War Cry, who won the Grade 2 Wood Memorial before the Kentucky Derby, inherited the favorite’s role when Classic Empire was withdrawn from the race Wednesday morning due to an abscess on his right front foot. Epicharis, the Japanese-bred horse drew post 11 and was made the 4-1 second choice. It was announced on Wednesday that Bobby Flay has purchased a quarter interest in J Boys Echo. Flay bought into Creator last year a few days before that horse won the Belmont Stakes. The Belmont goes as race 11 on a 13-race card that begins at 11:35 a.m.
