I've been nailing plywood sheathing to 60-year-old old-growth DF and it has been hell. The nails bend as if they had been made of aluminum.

I solved the problem by pre drilling with a bit that has a slightly smaller diameter than the 8p nail. They feel of the drive is that of driving into new DF.
