You may well be talking apples and oranges here. The Grundfos system is using pretreated water or ground water as described in the quoted copy below. With additional "AQpure" treatment added later if needed. The only similarity between the Grundfos and Cardinal systems seems to be the solar power energy source.

"The water kiosk is connected to a water tank supplied by groundwater or treated surface water using proven Grundfos solar driven pumps and – if required – Grundfos AQpure water treatment systems".
