Nothing wrong with either, fuzz. Longer term investing is probably the wiser, less stressful way to go, but some folks like to be more hands on and trade more frequently, whatever.

In hindsight, if I'd held onto my shrs of XIV sub $20 back in Feb 2016,
look where I'd be today!

btw, I don't mess with this fund much at all, daytrade or otherwise. It would just be nice to be on it when they run for the exits and clearly now isn't the time.
