But multichip modules aren't particularly new technology. Neither are interposers. I don't actually know for sure if Intel does 28 core monolithic dies or not. Anyone who knows is welcome to enlighten us or if you know if the 22 core Xeons are monolithic please post. But the original Pentium D's were separate dies on one chip. AMD claims 100% scaling blah blah blah. One thing for sure is that AMDs costs are going to be higher than Intel's because they have to mount 4 seperate pieces of silicon. That being said Intel is talking about something where you mount seperate nodes like 10nm 14nm on the same chip in the future. Not really sure what the specifics are there. And I would think that reliability would be impacted if you have 4 seperate dies. If anyone who is more familiar with all this wants to weigh in I think it could actually be an intelligent useful thread instead of the pie in the sky: OMG AMD GOT ONE LAPTOP WIN. TO THE MOON!!!!!!! Certainly AG and Boring will offer nothing useful.
