My dad sets out on the Newport to Ensenada race every year not knowing really where the wind is and goes all day and all night rarely seeing another boat.

Finished 1st in his class this year and was 9 hours ahead of 2nd place boat.

During this time, we never know how we will place. Whether others have wind or don't have wind. Our aim is on the finish line. This year was a bullet. Many years nothing.....but the company, food/beverage and comradery is what keeps us coming back.

Plot a course. Set the sails. Change course. Change sails. Deal with adversity. Weather. Good and bad.

VERY MUCH like running a start up business. Especially one that is sailing on uncharted waters.
