'Eerie uneasiness envelopes my being'

An English major friend started a poem back in 1975 with that line, and it reminds me of the current vibe that is emerging.

Historically there are many periods of unease, that's how the world is, but I can't help thinking about something Webster Tarpley discussed that could apply to today - the so-called 'Strategy of Tension', which was a psyop conducted in Europe in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Here's a synopsis from Wikipedia -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategy_of_tension

>>> The strategy of tension (Italian: strategia della tensione) is a theory that Western governments during the Cold War used tactics that aimed to divide, manipulate, and control public opinion using fear, propaganda, disinformation, psychological warfare, agents provocateurs, and false flag terrorist actions in order to achieve their strategic aims.[1] <<<

I wonder about all the so-called 'terrorist' events in Europe and the US which were ramped up early last year and continue into 2017. Most of these were/are false flags to reinvigorate the flagging Islamic boogeyman threat and justify a new push by the West to oust Assad, etc.

But there seems to be more to it than that, ie perhaps to produce a general state of psychological trauma among the US and European population. Added to this, Trump related political turmoil will be a steady gnawing backdrop in the months ahead.

The psychological goal could be, to quote FDR from 1933 -

"Fear — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes"
