definitely, China is making moves which will allow it to begin to surmount some of the biggest problems in its command economy.
you may want to call them reforms, and they are, but they are also allowing passage into the future for their society.
China has surpassed us in many areas.
most recently, we have been inundated with photos of cities buried in filthy smog, but the government has been moving the power industry too sustainable energy and away from coal.
at quite a rapid pace, too. it has caught our coal industry flat footed, still digging coal with their prime customer demanding much less of their product.
we shall see.
but it appears to me that the Chinese have shown themselves to be adaptable and nimble, partly because of government control of essential state enterprises.
