Well first, I wouldn't be angry - I'd simply be motivated to find the facts.

In my experience, it may be helpful to talk to the CEO, but I would do DD on everything he says, every promise he makes. I wouldn't take his word for anything. Do your own DD.

Remember he has a monetary reason to make you believe.
