Former FCSC Chairman Mauricio Tamargo and his law partner Jason Poblete represent more than 20 individuals with certified claims. Tamargo says he had claimant clients before December 2014—when President Obama announced he would normalize relations with Cuba—but “that interest accelerated after Obama made his announcement.” Now, he says, a similar sort of anticipation is in the air.
“President Trump has already indicated that he’s a very good dealmaker, so my clients are hoping he puts those skills into settling their certified claims,” Tamargo said. “We need to get the claims negotiated and settled.”
