Microvision receives a very outstanding award:


MicroVision Receives Outstanding Achievement Award At The Laser Display And Lighting Conference 2017


April was an eventful and exciting month for MicroVision! On top of being awarded a development and supply contract for a Laser Beam Scanning (LBS) display system by a leading technology company, our PicoP® scanning technology received great recognition at this year’s Laser Display and Lighting Conference (LDC) in Yokohama, Japan. What’s more, we had the opportunity to showcase our display and interactivity demos to hundreds of attendees at the Optics & Photonics International Exhibition (OPIE)’s Laser Expo.

Held during the OPIE’s Optics & Photonics International Congress (OPIC) in Yokohama, Japan, the 6th annual LDC is an international conference on laser displays, laser lighting, and related technologies that ran from April 19 – 21, 2017.

Selvan Viswanathan, Principal Engineer of Systems and Advanced Applications, represented MicroVision on-site at the Pacifico Yokohama to discuss a paper he authored with one of our product engineering directors, Jari Honkanen: “Laser Beam Scanning Short Throw Displays and an Exploration of Laser-Based Virtual Touchscreens.”

Selvan hosted a 15 minute presentation focused on PicoP® scanning technology as a platform solution for short-throw display and interactivity applications, which received one of only three awards handed out at the show. The honor was within the category, “Outstanding Industry Scientific Contribution,” in which Mitsubishi Electric Corp., Japan also received an award for its paper, “High-Power and Highly-Reliable 638nm Band BA-LD for CW Operation.”

Co-chairs made nominations for the various sessions, and voting took place across the entire panel of one conference chair and six co-chairs.
