Regarding Optane Memory.

I like this product. But it could have been done better. Why does it not have a good idle power state? 1W idle? Why not 0.1W? Even that's high but at least its acceptable. It's 2017!

Also, restricting it to i3/i5/i7 is misguided. Yea yea, they want to move people to Core ix CPUs. It's like what they say. Microsoft does everything to sell Windows. Intel does everything to sell CPUs.

If they could have made it work on Core-based Pentium chips, not even Celeron. It would have increased adoption far better. Let's look at Optane in terms of diversifying, not artificially capping to potentially sell more CPUs. It's short-sighted.

They've got significant yield issues with Optane. I'm sure of it. Which is why endurance levels fall far short and DIMM versions are delayed at least a year.

Increased adoption by making it available with value chips = better chance for yield learning, and faster time to lower prices. Another $5 billion business with Optane. Why not? CPU market is saturated.
