Is the guy a native English speaker? If not, maybe we shouldn't be too hard on him. It's easy to learn some basic conversational English; you won't get everything right, but people will understand what you mean.
However, our grammar, spelling, and pronunciation are difficult to master, because all of it is so quirky.
