Interesting article from Dec 2016.

Not sure I saw this before.

DECEMBER 7, 2016
Amfil Technologies Inc. AMFE- OTC-BB

So who would have guessed that board games played on a table top would flourish so successfully in this digital day and age? By now we should have all disappeared down the rabbit hole of our social media devices, earning our carpal tunnel scores the old fashioned way, one irritating tap on a glass screen at a time!
This is not to say that digital games aren’t growing at an astounding pace- and gamification of marketing is about to become a major buzzword we feel…
Alongside the seemingly unstoppable forces of digital nature, board game cafes have been springing up in major millenial centers and they are packed. Toronto has a number of board game cafes and a GTA based publicly traded company called Amfil Technologies Inc. has noticed and is working with one of the earliest and biggest called Snakes and Lattes. http://www.snakesandlattes.com/ is their website, where you can find information on their two locations, plus people can buy boardgames online.

Online sales is a segment of their business which has proven to be as big a revenue generator as the actual cafe according to owner Ben Castanie. We sat down and chatted with Ben a while ago amidst the buzzing and energetic Friday night crowd. He said that in France where he is from, playing board games every Sunday night was a tradition. Upon a trip to Chicago he saw a board game store which made him realize that he should go back and start one in Toronto as he hadn’t seen any. So from humble beginnings in a store in a dinghy basement of a downtown coffee shop he quickly had to find more space as the popularity of playing board games took off. That led to a prime walk-in traffic location on Bloor Street, one of Toronto’s main streets, and another location due south on College Street, another very popular destination street for people seeking nightlife and entertainment.
The bottom line is this is a flourishing business which is adding to the bottom line of Amfil Technologies Inc. in a handsome way since they joined together in business, and these numbers should be reflected in Q2 of 2017 according to AMFE CEO Roger Mortimer. He has also mentioned the company is working on acquiring a business to complement their goal of starting to sell franchises of the Snakes and Lattes business model. Starting a board game company seems like an easy task but apparently a lot of training is required of the staff in order to ensure a quality gaming experience is delivered to customers. Since the current staff will have received the training already, they would be natural choices to manage any new locations or independant franchises…
Amfil has other divisions as well- “Interlock-Kings is a ‘hardscape’ construction company serving the GTA, with snow-removal services in the winter. CEO Roger Mortimer is taking the approach that revenue generation is very crucial to a successful business and is on the alert for other cash flow positive businesses to add to the fold.
On the more speculative side, the company has claims in Guyana on which gold exploration is the order of the day, plus some work has gone into a marijuana division, namely the development of ozone generating machines to be used in the growth of the plants.
