What intrigues me is Semcon. The Mariner Markman hearing in on May 25th. There are two patents with about 20 claims involved and these patents expired in 2015. Quest has the ability to file infringement for the last 5 or 6 years of the expired patents, something like that… One company already settled and IF the Markman goes well I’m hoping for settlements and suits in a quicker manner. Maybe something like Quest NetTech (average settlement about a year).

Semcon on the other hand, the Markman hearing was originally set for early June but has now been postponed to June 29th. Why? The Semcon suit involves four patents and 171 claims. As I understand it, you can only bring so much to a hearing. Semcon received approval for additional time and to argue more claims.

ORDER re 104F Joint MOTION for Leave to File Excess Pages for Claim Construction Briefing filed by Semcon IP Inc. . Signed by Magistrate Judge Roy S. Payne on 4/17/2017. (nkl, )

On top of that these patents don’t expire until 2020 so they have the possibility of 20 years of infringement royalties.
Not sure what it would take to move the stock. Quest is a very lean company and a couple of wins and some revenue (could be significant based for the report posted), a few press releases and some fresh paint on their website can do the trick. More so, it will show the market that they have a working model.

Then comes the IC Kinetic patents…

This is me just thinking out loud. I’m no patent professional and have been wrong a lot more than I’ve been right.
Thoughts?
