One piece turbine rotors? What does Innovating mean?
3D Printing And Digital Technologies Are Altering The Face Of Aircraft Engine Manufacturing In Italy
When GE talks about reducing the number of engine components, this is how it can be done. Build direction can have effects on the metallurgical properties. If predictable satisfactory component manufacture can be easily repeated, why wouldn't GE make one piece turbine rotors. It'll be interesting to see how the technology develops.
