Thats a lot of money for their BODs to approve for deepwater expansion, when they could invest that in shale.
Looks like the "age of the multi-billion dollar mega projects" is not over. All signs point to new tech, capabilities, and further deepwater reach. Sure shale was hot, but Ray's bigger problem in not signing an operating partner was such an aggressive timeline...thanks to Tullow shitting the bed. Anyone who has worked at a mid-large sized operator knows the planning, contracting, and approvals requirements. The speed at which HDYN and HDM was able to tender and contract everything in a 3rd world country is very impressive. The speed at which they have processed PSC amendments and obtained gov and partner approval is also notable.
