Close but no it basically resigns AMD back to the bargon bin where thwy belong ,slopping it out on price as Intel nonchalantly brings everything forward and smiles mischievously. The circle of life goes on. Expect Nvidia next to crush poor vegan.

Not that you would accept any of my arguments but I'll do my best anyway: AMD may be in a better cost position than Intel which is a big difference to the past. Intel was able to simply cut prices in the past, due to its process lead. This time, Intel hardly has a process lead anymore (Ryzen even seems to be significantly smaller in die size than comparable Intel CPUs). In addition, Intel has a stagnating business to pay for the increasing fab costs where AMD only has to pay a small share of Samsung's/Glofo fab costs. Intel failed to make additional semiconductor volume and now they are in probably the worst position since a long time.

Add that Intel still has good margins and will harm it's share price a lot when compromising on ASPs, AMD is in a very good position to win market share, compete in price (Ryzen is a lot more attractive in pricing so far) and still make a good dollar from it.

Still, real volume is to be found in business and the laptop market. Both are hard to crack for AMD. Business won't switch from Intel easily, since realiability is everything and price doesn't matter much for PCs. For laptops, AMD simply doesn't have a competitive offer so far. We'll see about it once the corresponding CPU lineup is available, but technically, this is a completely different story. That segment is more about optimized platforms than process leadership, something AMD isn't particularly strong with.

Anyway. I highly doubt Intel will fight in price against AMD. It could well be that they let them pass in the niches. Things will be very interesting in the server market though, where Intel's margins are horrendous and they definetely won't give them up. I see a lot of potential wins for AMD there.
