We have a small herd of Shih Tzus. When we let them out in our fenced in front yard we always go out with them. We live in a very small town that doesn't usually see predators wandering the streets (the non human kind).

We just don't trust people. Someone walking along the sidewalk could easily open the front gate or reach over the picket fence and snatch one of them.

Plus we try to keep a couple of them from dining on the brown deposits left by the others! Yep... disgusting!
