Because here the spread is so large. If you are able to get in at the bid of 0004 then when it goes to 0018 you'd have to have your sell on the ask there and you are right you'd make a good gain. The issue is on days when there is little to no volume it is tough to find a buyer at your ask price of 0018 to exit. Now, the other week when we had some volume come in and rose 1650% to 0035 the bid at one point was at 003 I recall. On quiet days though it is more difficult to do what you described. On a ticker with much more volume it is much easier.
