Again, the airlines policy sucks, but it is written on their ticket. I would have gotten off the plane and demanded a supervisor. The Spousal would have shmoozed and gotten it handled peacefully.
So, now that we have gotten that out of the way, the passenger caused the ruckus. 3 others managed to get off the plane without injury. This one person caused United to have to go to extreme levels, cause the plane to be delayed, THEN caused every passenger to have to get off the plane so they can decontaminate the plane due to his blood, causing another 2 hour delay.
I just want to know when kicking and screaming like a toddler became acceptable for adults? Our generation is screwing up this planet in so many ways.
For thousands of years citizens around the world were forced to do things they didn't want to do. I'm sure none of them were paid $800 for their inconvenience.
FWIW, I have asked several people I know what their opinion was, not a one of them thought this "doctor" behaved maturely or intelligently, but now, unfortunately, he will re-enforce to others that this is how you get what you want.
I have to wonder, had the airlines said, "OK, passenger in 21A doesn't want to get off, so we're going to pick again and it will be one of you."....how many would have been understanding?
