Maple Resources Corporation is planning to invest between $75 million and $100 million in a plant with capacity to process between 10,000 and 40,000 barrels of oil per day.
Guatemala could have its first refinery to process between 10,000 and 40,000 barrels of oil per day. The announcement was made by the multinational Maple Resources Corporation through its CEO Jack W. Hanks, who revealed that the investment could range between $75 million and $100 million.
Prensalibre.com reports that "... the construction could take 18 to 24 months, and while it is starting, work will be done on environmental studies and other permits that are required in the country. Between 40% and 50% of the product of the refinery is diesel, while the rest could become fuel for cars or airplanes, in addition solvents will be produced for paints and other products for industrial use."
The plan is for "... the refinery, to be built on land in the plant belonging to Carburantes Centroamericanos, S. A. (Carcasa), it will have a length of between 30 and 40 hectares in a property measuring 150,000 in total."
