I am a cancer patient and have so far, 10 years and 5 months, survived Stage IV Colon Cancer. I have done so possibly by being my own doctor. Never did I rely on P values. I did discover Reolysin 5 years ago and would have tried it then if I could have. Actually I could have via "Compassionate Use". It was during that quest that I found that REO would not work for me, my tumor is KRAS Wild Type. It is obvious that REO works in various cancers that have an activated RAS pathway, it is obvious that it stops working when it causes the tumor cells to up regulate PD-L1 and that various checkpoint inhibitors might work synergistically and it is becoming clear that it works to stimulate both the inate and adaptive immune system as seen in various trials including this one and the recent Pancreatic Cancer trial. REO is very safe with patients suffering minor fever and possibly flu like symptoms over a short period.
OS is the ONLY criteria I have ever been interested in and that is where REO shines. The only question is how many lives, years of life, have to be sacrificed to the FDA's mystical "protective services" before we are allowed to use REO. What are they protecting us from? P values?
They would have protected me from a number of things that I used to stay alive. One item I used BEFORE any chemo, I was chemo naive as they say, reduced my tumors by 65% and then kept them stable for 18 months. It is banned by the FDA but fortunately you can buy it on Amazon for $75. BTW I was monitored by MSK during the 2 year period I used that item. Another that I cannot say worked was a virus that I bought over the phone from a major lab. I also used another approved chemo off label. Regular chemo also has worked for me very well so I am not disparaging modern medicine. In fact everything I have done was with knowledge from researchers and doctors from all over. My only and best evidence that any of it worked is that I am still alive and I still have Stage IV Colon Cancer.
And though it does not work for me, no activated RAS pathway, Reolysin is the real deal and will be proven as such. It is going to be a very good year for Oncolytics.
