I just set DuckDuckGo as my default based on your post, I had no idea about lxquick as there was no notification and I might not have thought to check anyway. I don't know, I feel as if us fleas can't win this arms race anyway, all we can do is shrink our profile. I use an abbreviated version of Life Alert, have cut way back on my CC use online, do no banking or bill paying online, set up autopay in person at my bank, but who knows how secure they are. My broker has already had a breach, I was using my CC at Target when they got nailed and of course I had some, what I thought was harmless, communication with medical providers in Yahoo mail when they were just opening the door to anyone who wanted in the last three years without notifying any of us insignificant ad targets. Back to cash anyone?

I've used both TOR and Ghostery which slowed me down so much as to ruin any enjoyable experience not to mention streaming data and trade exexecutions. One of the prophylactic services I use, Adguard can be adjusted to do more than ad blocking, but once again eats probably 10%+ of my CPU. As far as using proxy mode you can control HTTP and HTTPS, DNS filtering is available through several of my services as well as controlling apps traffic via firewalls. I use a total of 4 premium services and am still vulnerable no doubt.

I don't know, no matter how virtuous they start off, it feels like all my premium services, plus browsers, search engines etc. succumb to being turned into floozies. Because I switched, I suspect DuckDuckGo will be the next to go followed by Life Alert et al, money talks, bullsheet walks when it comes to internet virtuosity towards us ratbag consumers.

I don't have the answer.
