CurveGlobal, a marketplace that offers competing interest rate products to small and midsize banks, marked its sixth month anniversary this week and continues to make strides in the industry. Opening with six European interest rate futures contracts last September, Curve now trades thousands of lots a day and is focusing on expanding its product line. CurveGlobal is a joint venture between the LSE Group, CBOE and major dealer banks.

VIX Fix: Volatility’s Immunity

After another tumultuous week of crippling setbacks for the presidential administration, the “Trump Rally” appears to have lost its momentum. The Dow Jones Index (DOW) is on track for its first monthly loss of 2017, albeit still higher by nearly 5 percent on the quarter. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) popped above its 200-day moving average last Friday, closing at 13.54, its highest close of 2017, but subsided after shrugging off the current political climate and landing in the 12-range. But as another round of executive orders geared toward trade issues takes center stage, volatility’s immunity may become a thing of the past.
