March 30-The rain, which began at dusk, will likely continue all night and quit around 10 Friday morning. My lettuce plants will be so lush. Some, especially the Forellenschluss, are reaching a foot in diameter. I will have to take the bus to Wal Mart for a flashcard to record an image soon.
Jerry from the market responded to my email saying I would call him Monday.
Meanwhile, I had to take a bus to Dollar General on 7th for more potting soil to up pot more seedlings. I still had time to set in 12 lettuce plants and sow 48 Pink Beauty radish seeds. I emptied the packet for the Gladiator parsnips.
And, I sifted some of that potting soil to sow the Toothache plant seed in newspaper cups. 16 in all.
The asparagus from the bed that was totally buried in ground up asphalt continue to poke through. Truly amazing. And tender.
The Green Syrian lettuce in newspaper cups are making progress. Some true leaves have appeared on a few plants. They will be the last to go into the beds. Will they be the kind of variety that can withstand the heat of late May and still not taste bitter?
