March 29-When the guys are hogging the computers, I have to remind myself they're idiots and move on.
Another wonderful spring day and afternoon. The dogwoods are in bloom, and the flowering cherry trees in front of the Fifth Third Bank tower. Pansies are in full display. The tulips the parks department set out this season are better looking than the parrot varieties last season. And azaleas - white, pink, red, salmon. Can the Master's golf tournament be just up ahead?
I phoned and left a message for Jerry, then emailed from the library. He'll be away for a couple of days so I'll contact him early next week.
My first lettuce plants are reaching the harvest stage, probably by mid April, if not sooner for some of them.
The first sowing of spinach seed looks encouraging. The same for the first radish seed. I've noticed a few carrot plants survived the freeze.
I brought empty newspaper cups from home to the greenhouse and sowed Genovese and purple basil. Deadheading basil flowers is a chore, so I'm not putting out something like 100 plants. I will admit, though, they're a great insect deterrent.
CC the Calico Cat switched from mouse hunting to catching birds. I noticed some black feathers, probably from a grackle. Later in the morning she caught a skink.
When I run out of Garden-tone I will take the bus to Wal Mart. I've determined the plug in UBS will work for my digital camera but I don't have the software disk. So it looks like I must buy another flashcard.
Watermelon hill #7 has been filled.
Rain is forecast for Thursday afternoon, the evening and into Friday morning. How much I haven't checked for estimates. Doesn't matter, I have water on the property.
