Here is just one example of a Pharma Company receiving a Orphaned Drug Status out of Seattle, the stock jumped to $2.82 on the news of this Status. There is a lot of value in a Company with this status. Once the R/M is complete you have a Company that already has a Orphan Drug Status and is in Phase One. On top of this this Company went public in 2016 and opened up the first day of trading at $5 a share raising $18.5 mil.
