"42 daily is rather challenging for anyone".
Indeed it seems it would be impossible. A single enema daily for 42 days is a lot less challenging.

I couldn't find the volume of the CTIX enema itself (vs the dosage). For the typical mesalamine enema the volume of material is actually fairly small (60ml is about a shot glass and a half). The disease is such that any relief provided makes the treatment tolerable...no one who does not have the disease could possibly have the needed perspective. (Have you ever met a healthy person who wouldn't balk at such a treatment?)

What you refer to as the final "intrusion" might actually be welcome to someone who was hoping to quantify the value of the treatment. The fact that only one patient refused it speaks more to the fact that sufferers are accustomed to and understand the requirement for the procedure than the horror that most healthy folks feel when they consider it. Obviously all the healthy people here would decline the "opportunity", if offered.

The "good, old-school hygiene" enema (http://divinehealthfromtheinsideout.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/IMG_0097.jpg) is nothing like the retention enema used to treat UC issues (http://www.carloanibaldi.com/therapy/listingdrugs/drugs/images/pills/p01338c1.jpg) except for a common access.

I was given that information....I don't know.
