i asked this before but didn't get a response. do mm's have to report if they hold over 5%? is there any way to own more than 5% without reporting?

with all of the millions of shares that have been traded over the past few years, wouldn't you think that longs own most of the float by now??? cross trading between mm's just to bide time and make a few dollars along the way???
