Remember in August 2015 when Adage filed for permission from the FTC to buy a large amount of additional shares? I wonder what that was all about. It is possible that Adage approached ADXS with an offer for a large private placement and were rebuffed because they already controlled just under 20% of the stock as it was. Perhaps they said "okay, then we'll just lend our shares out to shorts" if you won't play ball." Also, it is quite probable that when Fidelity purchased a big block of shares it was for two reasons. First, as an investment in ADXS and, second, they would then have lots of shares that its brokerage arm could lend out to clients at a healthy interest rate in the interim. The same probably applies to Cantor, Jefferies, etc.
