Flynn Discussed Potentially Illegal Extradition of US Citizen

"Donald ‘The Closer’ Trump didn’t know how to close the deal"

March 24, 2017 Tim Peacock

Late last year Newsweek broke a story about Turkey’s potential leverage over President Elect Donald Trump and their desire to extradite Fethullah Gülen, a 77-year-old Muslim spiritual leader who they argue led a coup in their country. Gülen is now a naturalized U.S. citizen with all the due process rights the Constitution affords.

Despite that, incoming National Security Adviser discussed (in a meeting last year with Turkish officials) the possibility of kidnapping Gülen and sending him to Turkey (effectively circumventing the legal extradition process and Gülen’s constitutional rights).

US Attorney-General Jeff Sessions: Will his decision to recuse himself be enough?

Updated 3 Mar 2017, 5:25pm
Jeff Sessions fronts US Senate hearing

US Attorney-General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from any investigations into Russian interference in last year's presidential election.

But he had been under pressure to do at least that much, and now some influential Republicans are calling for a new, independent investigation and some Democrats are saying he must resign. Meanwhile others in positions of power are saying there is nothing to see here.

So will stepping aside from current investigations be enough?

Here is some quick background on what has happened, and what key players are saying should come next.

[...]

Ms Pelosi is the most senior Democrat in the House of Representatives and is piling pressure on the Trump administration, saying Mr Sessions must resign because he "lied under oath" during his confirmation hearing.

[...]

Last week, Mr Issa broke ranks with other Republicans by arguing that Mr Sessions should recuse himself and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

[...]

Mr Ryan had said he could not see why Mr Sessions should recuse himself from any investigations unless he himself was the subject of them.

[...]

Mr Chaffetz, the chairman, has already called for Mr Sessions to "clarify his testimony" and recuse himself.

But when former national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned over his own communications with Russia (and his own failure to disclose this fact), Mr Chaffetz declined to investigate it further.

[...]

Donald Trump

Job: President

We've left the most obvious name till last. As was the case when national security adviser Michael Flynn was similarly under fire, the President has a bigger say than anyone on what happens now.

Mr Trump has said he has "total" confidence in Mr Sessions, adding he "wasn't aware" the Attorney-General had any contact with the Russian ambassador during his presidential campaign.

Partisan split at House intel committee over canceled open hearing
CNN Digital Expansion DC Manu Raju

[...]
"Chairman just cancelled open Intelligence Committee hearing with (former Director of National Intelligence James) Clapper, (former CIA Director John) Brennan and (former deputy Attorney General Sally) Yates in attempt to choke off public info," Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee tweeted moment before going to speak to the press Friday morning.
Schiff refused to say whether he thought Nunes should step down from his position, telling reporters, "What's really involved here is the cancellation of this open hearing and the rest is designed to distract."

So Schiff has moved to seeming certainty that there is evidence of Trump campaign collusion with Putin's people, and Nunes
cancelled the open hearing. What have they both seen in the last couple of days? Maddow also puts that forward in the video.

Almost forgot the report that White House personnel are purging their electronic devices in case they are subpoenaed.

It's gotta be Satan at work, eh? Has to be. :)
