Pauline would probably be better at answering that than I would.

I think the main competition in long read comes from Oxford Nanopore and Genia (Roche) but seems they are still under development. PACB is suing Oxford as well.. ILMN may be collaborating with others like 10X Genomics. Seems Sequel is the best at this point for long reads, I'm not a scientist. Maybe ILMN is waiting to see if it can get something out to compete with PACB? I wish I knew the answer to this too but it seems Dr H and crew is going full force ahead regardless.
