i have wondered why they changed chemo drugs at the last minute. i looked up ifosfamide and 5-fluorouracil on chemocare website. they both basically do the same thing, they prevent cancer cells from dividing. leucovorin is a vitamin similiar to folic acid, which enhances the cancer killing ability of 5-fluorouracil, in strength and duration. it can also helps with anemia problems. maybe the fda thought this would do a better job than ifosfamide or they were satisfied with the earlier studies with ifosfamide and wanted pmcb to test another combination.
