Yes, I am hoping these legal teams inside the big companies have a lot of say as to the direction to companies want to go. As I've said, not only for defense reasons but offensive reasons as well. Collecting royalties from every company would be massive income for whoever owns the patent. And, not only that, you wouldn't have to spend money legally defending yourself against said patents. I'm not sure if something has to be overturned in the legal field ( yahoo casa ) or whatever but I'm hoping somebody realizes the value of these patents and we get a bidding war ASAP
