March 18-This morning the Rosa Bianca eggplant seedlings took a bus ride. One suffered some wind burn. Now safely inside the greenhouse, hopefully they will benefit from more intense sunlight. Later in the morning, the pepper and tomato plants in paper cups took a ride. I counted 27. I need lots more. A seed order arrived for Sheepnose Pimento and Alma Paprika peppers. I immediately put 20 of each into separate dishes of sodium nitrate solution.
The St. Patrick's parade began as scheduled. The rain stopped around 10. The crowd lining Tryon Street wasn't a large this season.
I started watermelon hill #5 and cleared some weeds between the raised beds to make walking easier. The soil is quite good, thanks to the leaves I placed last season.
More seeds have germinated in the apartment. I've replaced them with an heirloom tomato variety, Eva Purple Ball, from a packet I saved from last season. Maybe I will have enough for Jerry. It's a German variety, not actually purple, but the fruit will appear that way when the light is right. The nice thing about them is they're virtually blemish free.
Sunday I will take the 27 to a Dollar General for some potting soil. I need to finish seeding the Syrian Green lettuce.
Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
